Polyethylene Foam Rolls

Polyethylene Foam Rolls

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are a leading UK supplier of  Polyethylene materials and products.  We have a huge storage facility enabling us to stock blocks ‘buns’, rolls and sheets of polyethylene, in a range of densities and colours all ready for conversion. Other names sometimes used to describe this material are block foam, PE foam, polyethylene sponge or LDPE (low density Polyethylene) foam.

Rolls of Polyethylene foam are made by joining and splitting 2 metre x 1 metre sized blocks of material using our state of the art splitting machines, which can quickly and accurately produce rolls  at various thicknesses starting from as little as 1.5mm and supplied in lengths of up to 100 metres (depending on thickness), with standard rolls offered 10 metres long. As we offer in-house conversion and lamination services, we can not only split materials down, we can also laminate layers together to produce non-standard thicknesses or composite rolls and sheets using layers of different materials, as well as being able to apply self adhesives or foil facings.

Our facilities house a number of presses, log cutters, strippers, bandsaws, CNC machines and coaters, which can be used to produce a number of Polyethylene foam products including gaskets, washers, strips, pads and fabrications, all of which can be cut from rolls of PE foam.

What are Polyethylene Foam Rolls ?

Polyethylene foam is part of the Thermoplastic foam family.  It is a chemically cross-linked foam, which is blown during the manufacturing process resulting in a small, uniform, closed-cell structure, creating a high-quality, lightweight material, it is a great material with a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours.

Densities in which Polyethylene foam are produced include 25kg, 30kg, 45kg, 60kg, 100kg, EEV, EVA, Conduction, Anti-static and Flame Retardant. All of these grades are manufactured in 2meter x 1meter sized blocks, which can be easily joined and split into continuous rolls of material, which can be taken in full, cut down into sheets or further converted into finished usable parts such as strips, tapes, gaskets, washers or pads.

    Why use Polyethylene Foam Rolls?

Polyethylene materials are formulated and manufactured in a range of grades and densities offering various properties for use in different applications, with many available in a choice of colours.  Polyethylene foam materials have a low compression set, are resistant to water, oils, chemicals and weather, with its closed cell structure offering a good tear resistance and doesn’t support mold or fungus growth. Polyethylene foam has a number of desirable properties including resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV and a working temperature range of -60°C - +90°C.

It also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control and can be used for thermal insulation. Rolls of material can be taken where large surfaces are to be covered or larger components are being cut. They are also perfect for the production of strips or PE foam tapes as they can be quickly log cut to the desired width. By taking rolls of material, customer have the freedom to cut the material down to the required sized sheet or a specific number of washers or gaskets as and when they are required.

    Types of Polyethylene Available

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene materials, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene material types we can offer:

Advantages of Using Polyethylene Foam Rolls

Low Density Polyethylene Foams are all produced and cured in block form, allowing us to quickly produce rolls in thicknesses  starting from 1.5mm and lengths of up to 100 metres. As Polyethylene foam is manufactured in various grades, customers benefit from a number of advantages and a choice of properties allowing the material to be utilised in numerous industries and applications from dust seals and flame retardant gaskets to theatre and production props.

Polyethylene foam is a man-made material, with a closed cell structure  which can be used in sealing applications against liquid, gases and particles. Polyethylene foam also has a number of desirable properties including a high resistance to wear and tear, Ozone, UV, resilience to repeated impact and a working temperature range of -60°C to +90°C. It also offers excellent mechanical characteristics including noise and vibration control, for shock absorption and can be used for thermal insulation.

Rolls of Polyethylene foams are aesthetically pleasing, with a nice texture which are easy to fabricate, laminate and cut into parts using a range of techniques and processes for use within the theatrics, building and construction, HVAC, automotive, packaging and sports industries.
