PVC Foam Seals
ASG are one of the country’s most recognised non-metallic material converters, working with a worldwide network of manufacturers and suppliers enabling us to offer an array of seals, including those produced using various grades of PVC foam.
We supply the highest quality PVC foam seals taking the form of gaskets, washers, O-rings and extrusions, which are all designed for the purpose of preventing the leakage or the ingress of air, fluids and gas. Working with our customers during the design and material selection process is important as it enables us to produce seals to match their exact required specifications, ensuring the seal doesn't fail once it is placed within the application.
By using our customers' drawings or samples, we are able to produce seals in many forms whether it's a simple washer to a more complex extruded profile which is fabricated into a finished product - we can offer a solution. From small sample batches to a multi-thousand run, we have a machine suited to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed seals in a range of sizes, supplied plain or with a choice of finishes including a selection of foils and self adhesives.

What Are PVC Foam Seals?
Seals manufactured using PVC Foam (Polyvinyl Chloride) take many forms. The material itself is lightweight, available in a range of grades and colours, each with its own set of unique properties and can be converted into a range of products including seals. ‘Seal’ is a general term for products often taking the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded or moulded profiles and edge trims, often used as a gap filler between surfaces, acting as a separator or a barrier to prevent liquids, particles or gases escaping or penetrating the application and in a number of vibration dampening, sealing and insulating applications.
Why Use PVC Foam Seals?
There are a number of ways in which PVC Foams can be utilised as the material is available in a number of grades and densities suited for use in the most lightweight of applications, through to very higher impact and demanding ones.
There are reasons why PVC Foams are used in seal production as the material holds various desirable attributes such as sealing properties against dust, air, water, chemicals and resistance to outdoor elements such as wind, rain and sunlight, along with thermal insulation and vibration and sound absorption.
We have many customers that require PVC foam seals in such industries as automotive, construction, HVAC, heating, marine and electronics. These industries use PVC foam for boating seals, window installations, product and surface protection, door seals, dust and light seals.
Benefits Of PVC Foam Seals
- Flammability tested to FMVSS302
- Vibration and Sound Absorbent
- Chemical, UV and Ozone Resistant
- Effective Sealant against air, dust and water)
- Lightweight and Durable
- Good thermal insulation
As ASG have a network of high quality material manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to offer PVC foam rolls in a range of grades, each with own set of unique properties and characteristics, these include:
Soft PVC Foam - is a low density material, low density, closed cell foam with a density of around 90-100Kg/m3, which offers a working temperature range of -30ºC / + 70ºC, excellent UV resistance and sealing properties against air, dust and liquids - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm as standard.
Medium PVC Foam - is a mid density foam with a density of around 140-170 Kg/m3, offering excellent UV resistance and sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, low level water absorption, dimensional stability, a working temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm.
Firm PVC Foam - is a higher density foam of around 200-220Kg/m3. This grade also offers UV resistance, sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, low levels of water absorption and a temperature range of -30/+80°C - available in thicknesses of between 2 and 8mm.
Fast Recovery - this low density, closed cell foam has an average density of 100-120 Kg/m3 and as the name suggests - recovers quickly (returns to its original size and shape) following compression. Fast Recovery foam offers excellent sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, UV resistance and a temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm.
Slow Recovery - also a closed cell, low density foam, with an average density of 100-125 Kg/m3 and offers a slower recovery following compression in compassion to other PVC foams. As with all PVC foams, this one also offers UV resistance, excellent sealing capabilities against liquids, dust and air, has a temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses from 2mm to 20mm as standard.

Advantages Of Using PVC Foam Seals
There a a number of advantages to using PVC Foam seals is that the material offers countless desirable characteristics and properties over other foams including good acoustic and flammability properties, as well as resistance to ozone, UV, rot and mould growth and solvents making these PVC foam seals popular for use in sealing, insulation, gap filling, cushioning and filtration applications such as rooflight seals, glazing seals and refrigeration seals.
The range of different grades available offer features such as varying levels of recovery, working temperature ranges and densities, ensuring the seals fit and perform perfectly and are reliable for use in different environments.
PVC foams are available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, ready to be cut down into usable finished products such as PVC foam seals in the form of strips, washers or gaskets, etc where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.
