PVC Foam Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets are market leaders in the production and supply of high quality cut foam strips as we have some of the latest manufacturing technology and facilities. PVC foam strips are just one of 1000’s of products we are able to offer, working closely with our customers to produce the strips to match their required specifications, drawings or samples.

PVC foam strips are all made to order, manufactured using one of our many machines including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required - for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end user. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.

ASG stock a range of PVC foams in a number of thicknesses ensuring strips can be produced within a minimum timeframe and manufactured with a range of finishes including foils, self adhesives or laminated with other materials.

    What Are PVC Foam Strips?

PVC Foam strips are also sometimes referred to as foam tapes, gasket strips or foam gasketing tapes. PVC Foam (Polyvinyl Chloride) itself is a lightweight material, available in a range of grades and colours, each with its own set of unique properties and can be converted into a range of products including strips. Strips are pieces of material often cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous rolls or coils to be cut as when needed by the end user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning, vibration reduction or insulation.

    Why Use PVC Foam Strips?

PVC Foam strips can be used in a number of ways as the material holds various desirable properties such as creating a tight seal against dust, air, water, chemicals and outdoor elements such as wind, rain and sunlight, along with thermal insulation and vibration and sound absorption.

PVC Foam is produced in a number of grades meaning the material can be used in general sealing applications as well as more robust ones. We have many customers that require PVC foam strips in such industries as automotive, construction, HVAC, heating, marine and electronics, where they can be used as boat seals, window installations, door seals and lighting.

Advantages Of Using PVC Foam Strips

PVC Foam offers countless advantages over other foams including good acoustic and flammability properties, as well as resistance to ozone, UV, rot and mould growth and solvents making these strips extremely popular for use in sealing, insulation, cushioning and filtration applications as rooflight seals, glazing seals and refrigeration seals.

The different grades available offer features such as varying levels of recovery, working temperature ranges and densities, ensuring the strips are suited for use in different environments. PVC foams strips are available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses, but can also be made using split materials starting from as little as 1.5mm thick, where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.

    Different Grades

As ASG have a network of high quality material manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to offer PVC foam rolls in a range of grades, each with own set of unique properties and characteristics, these include:

Soft PVC Foam - is a low density material, low density, closed cell foam with a density of around 90-100Kg/m3, which offers a working temperature range of -30ºC / + 70ºC, excellent UV resistance and sealing properties against air, dust and liquids - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm as standard.

Medium PVC Foam - is a mid density foam with a density of around 140-170 Kg/m3, offering excellent UV resistance and sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, low level water absorption, dimensional stability, a working temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm.

Firm PVC Foam - is a higher density foam of around 200-220Kg/m3. This grade also offers UV resistance, sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, low levels of water absorption and a temperature range of -30/+80°C - available in thicknesses of between 2 and 8mm.

Fast Recovery - this low density, closed cell foam has an average density of 100-120 Kg/m3 and as the name suggests - recovers quickly (returns to its original size and shape) following compression. Fast Recovery foam offers excellent sealing properties against air, dust and liquids, UV resistance and a temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses of 2mm to 20mm.

Slow Recovery - also a closed cell, low density foam, with an average density of 100-125 Kg/m3 and offers a slower recovery following compression in compassion to other PVC foams. As with all PVC foams, this one also offers UV resistance, excellent sealing capabilities against liquids, dust and air, has a temperature range of -30ºC / + 60ºC - available in thicknesses from 2mm to 20mm as standard.
