Commercial Insertion Sheet
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer sheets in a huge range of solid rubber materials, including solid commercial grade insertion rubber. Solid commercial insertion rubber is sometimes referred to as SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) rubber, it’s a lower-cost alternative to natural rubber, which is often mixed with other polymers such as neoprene and EPDM.
As with all solid rubber, commercial insertion is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long and in thicknesses starting at 1mm, however using a range of machinery house on-site, we can cut these down into sheets at 2 meters or 1 meter in length x 1.4 meters wide as standard, but bespoke sized sheets are also available upon request.
Solid commercial insertion rubber sheets can be cut down in finished parts such as washers, gaskets, strips, etc or supplied as full sheets for customers and end-users to convert as and when required.
What are Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Solid commercial insertion rubber (SBR styrene-butadiene rubber) manufactured to the same specification as SBR but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’.
The reinforcement gives this economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance. SBR rubber compounds are often mixed with other polymers such as neoprene (CR/SBR), EPDM and Nitrile (NBR/SBR) which are intended to improve or add additional properties, all of which can also be manufactured in the insertion grade.
Often taken in sheet form giving customers the flexibility to cut them into a range of usable products as and when required.

Why use Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Sheets?
Commercial insertion rubber rolls are offered as a low cost, general-purpose material with high tensile and impact strength, resistance to abrasion and flexibility even at low temperatures.
Solid commercial insertion rubber has a working temperature range of between 70℃ to -20℃, a higher tensile strength and tear resistance compared to standard SBR and has good resistance to water, but is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.
These rolls of material can often be found used as converted parts in many general-purpose applications such as wear strips and impact pads in production lines, automotive parts, scraper blades, hoses, belts, gaskets and seals.
Benefits of Commercial Insertion Rubber
- Excellent resilience and tensile strength
- Excellent seal against air, water and diluted mixtures
- Temperature: -20°C up to +70°C.
- Abrasion resistance
- Excellent impact strength
- Improved tear resistance
Grades of Commercial Insertion Rubber Available
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers which gives our customers more choice. Commercial rubber is not only available as an SBR grade, but also blended with other polymers to give a cheaper alternative, some of these blends include:
CR/SBR insertion rubber (neoprene) is manufactured using neoprene rubber and SBR compounds to create a material with properties of premium grade material at a reduced cost. This material is generally used for gap sealing and dust seals. Commercial grade neoprene offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids and alkalies and are hard-wearing enough to be used outdoors.
NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial-grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.
EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
