Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Strips

Commercial Insertion Strip

By working with a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, ASG are to convert and supply a huge range of solid rubber strips, sometimes referred to as gasket strip, sealing strips or isolation strips.

Commercial insertion rubber strips are just one type which are manufactured in-house. As with most solid rubber, commercial insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1 mm from which strips can be cut.

Commercial Insertion rubber strips are manufactured by our highly skilled workforce using state of the art machinery, who by following our customers' samples or drawings, can produce made to measure commercial insertion rubber strips using our band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required.

In-house conversion allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.

What Are Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Strips?

Commercial Insertion rubber strips are cut from sheets or rolls of material to order, meaning we can supply them to meet your exact specifications in terms of lead time, size and finish. Commercial insertion rubber strips can be used for noise and vibration control applications or as a gasket, placed between two surfaces to create a low pressure seal preventing the leakage of dust, liquids or gas.

Solid commercial insertion rubber (SBR styrene-butadiene rubber) manufactured to the same specification as SBR, but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’. The reinforcement gives this economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance.

Why Use Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Strips?

Commercial insertion rubber strips are offered as a low cost, general purpose material with high tensile and impact strength, resistance to abrasion and flexibility even at low temperatures.

Solid commercial insertion rubber has a working temperature range of between 70℃ to -20℃, a higher tensile strength and tear resistance compared to standard SBR and has good resistance to water, but is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.

Strips manufactured using commercial insertion rubber are perfect for use as sealing gasketing strips to seal against air, dust and water.

    Benefits Of Commercial Insertion Rubber

    • Excellent resilience and tensile strength
    • Excellent seal against air, water and diluted mixtures
    • Temperature: -20°C up to +70°C.
    • Abrasion resistance
    • Excellent impact strength
    • Improved tear resistance

Advantages Of Using Solid Commercial Insertion Rubber Strips

For many general purpose sealing applications, Solid commercial insertion is usually the go to material, offering many excellent properties and characteristics.

It’s a flexible material even at low temperatures, demonstrating an operating temperature of -20°C to + 70°C, and is pre-manufactured in a range of thicknesses ready for converting into strips and other sealing products. Commercial insertion rubber washers offer a high resistance to tear and abrasion, as well as good resistance to weathering and UV.

Solid commercial insertion rubber strips resist degradation caused by heat, moisture, gas and some acids and alkaline chemicals. Solid commercial insertion rubber strips can be quickly cut from rolls of material in small pre-cut lengths, or even log cut or stripped down into coils of continues lengths of material in widths of as little as 4mm.

Grades Of Commercial Insertion Rubber Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with many material manufacturers which gives our customers more choice. Commercial rubber is not only available as an SBR grade, but also blended with other polymers to give a cheaper alternative, some of these blends include:

CR/SBR insertion rubber (neoprene) is manufactured using neoprene rubber and SBR compounds to create a material with properties of premium grade material at a reduced cost. This material is generally used for gap sealing and dust seals. Commercial grade neoprene offers resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids and alkalies and are hard wearing enough to be used outdoors.

NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing. This commercial grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR insertion rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds. This particular grade of material offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as a high tensile strength and tear resistance. Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.
