EPDM Rubber Pads

EPDM Rubber Pads

EPDM Rubber Pads

EPDM Rubber Pads are manufactured by ASG using various grades of solid rubber best suited to the end-users application which can be anything from rubber feet to anti-vibration pads.

We can deliver EPDM Gaskets bespoke items using our in-house facilities 1 off or 1000’s of product runs in any size required and with the options of them supplied as individual parts packed loosely or kiss-cut in sheet or roll forms (depending on the size of the pad).

EPDM rubber pads can be cut in thicknesses ranging from 1mm up to 25mm without laminations – but can be laminated to achieve thicknesses above this or to a different material. By choosing ASG you’ll receive professional service providing high-quality solutions to your needs - from a standard square pad to customised items requiring notches, slots, or radius corners.

What is EPDM?

EPDM is the abbreviated name for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, this strong, synthetic material from which EPDM pads are cut makes them ideal for external sealing applications against air and water, it also offers excellent resistance to abrasion and resistance to being degraded by ageing, weathering or ozone.

It is able to withstand temperatures ranging from a low of -35°C up to a high of 120°C Whilst suitable for use in the presence of vegetable oils, animal fats, oxygenated solvents and inorganic salts, EPDM pads should not be used in the presence of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, lubricating oils and petrol.

EPDM is waterproof and works well under pressure meaning EPDM pads are suitable for use in deep-sea applications.  It also has sound insulation properties, therefore often featured in household appliances that call for lower levels of noise and movement.

The advantages of using EPDM as a material

    • Thermal stability –   excellent temperature stability –40° to +120°C (150°C
    • Environmental resilience – EPDM gaskets are extremely resistant to wear, ageing, weather influences, and UV-light.
    • Chemical resistance –   resistance to animal and vegetable oils/good resistance to acids
    • Durability –  long last lasting quality of an EPDM gasket greatly reduces expenditure on maintenance and replacements
    • Noise insulation properties

    Why use EPDM Pads?

Pads produced using EPDM Rubber offer resistance to abrasion, grease, oil, UV, Ozone, and weathering. They are a cost-effective solution to diffusing sound, eliminating rattles, and as rubber feet or buffers to protect surfaces against scuffs and impact damage.

EPDM rubber pads can be produced in any shape and size, therefore meaning they can be used in almost industry including aerospace, MOD (Ministry of Defence), food industry, automotive, white goods, and construction for parts such as oven/white goods feet, furniture feet, handrails, pedals on sports equipment and inside/underneath screens. ASG supply the full range of EPDM rubber pads primarily in black, with the exception of food-grade EPDM which are available in blue and white.

    Self-adhesive EPDM Pads

EPDM Pads can be supplied with a plain finish or with self-adhesive backing. The addition of an adhesive holds the pad in place, ensuring it remains stable even if the application moves. Clients can choose adhesive which is a low, medium, or high tack, depending upon the individual requirements.

    Grades of EPDM Pads

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a vast supply chain meaning we can provide a solution to meet the end-users exact needs by producing rubber pads in different grades of EPDM depending upon the demands of each application.

Our commercial grades of EPDM are available in 40, 50, 60 and 70 shore hardness’s, the 40-50 shore rubber offers moderate pliability and elasticity, whilst the harder 60-70 shore offers higher abrasion-resistant durability, but less pliability and flexibility.

We also utilise a Water Research Advisory Service (WRAS) Approved EPDM for use in Potable Water Applications, Food Safe Grade (blue or white in colour), Insertion rubber and Peroxide Cured.

    The Benefits of EPDM Pads

    • Reducing operational noise and shock absorption
    • Surface protection
    • Cushioning against abrasion
    • The resistance and transmission of electricity
    • Insulating electrical charges

EPDM Rubber Pads – FDA Approved, WRAS Approved, Insertion Rubber, Peroxide Cured

Our Food Quality EPDM Rubber pads are manufactured from material blue or white in colour which meets EU1935: 2004, FDA 21 CFR part 177 Section 2600 Allowable Substances.  We ensure our FDA Approved pads meet stringent quality control, ensuring that the production facility is protected from the risks of contamination.

In addition, we offer WRAS Approved EPDM (The Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) which meets BS EN 681-1 and can be used in applications relating to Drinking and Potable water.  This is typically a black EPDM rubber with a cloth finish which has a resistance to Microbiological growth.

Insertion Rubber Pads are available in natural/commercial neoprene and nitrile grades.  The insertion (mesh reinforcement) between the two places (skins) of the rubber increases the strength and durability of the material, helping it to hold its shape making it suitable for use within farming machinery, belting, and skirting.

Peroxide Cured EPDM rubber pads (as opposed to sulphur cured) have excellent resistance to alcohol, steam, heat (150°C), sunlight, chemicals, mildly acidic, alkali, and oxygenated solvents.  They must not however be used where there is exposure to fuels, greases, and mineral oils.  Peroxide Cured EPDM pads are often found used in food & drink applications.
