Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads

Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads

Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads

One of thousands of solid rubber products on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are neoprene insertion rubber pads, this material is manufactured in roll form usually at 1.4mtrs wide x 10mtrs long and in thicknesses starting at 1.5mm, which are stocked by ASG ready to be converted into various other products including cut pads, supplied with a plain or self-adhesive finish using our in-house laminating service.

Our solid neoprene insertion rubber pads are produced  on-site by following drawings, samples or measurements provided by our customers using one of many state of the art machines including presses, bandsaws or CNC oscillating knives which can be used to manufacture the final product.

From one off samples to multiple batch runs, which depending on size can be supplied as loosely cut parts, or kiss-cut on rolls  where a high quantity is required or for use on fast paced assembly lines.

What are Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads?

By using a combination of highly skilled staff and in-house machinery ASG have the ability to produce square or rectangular neoprene insertion rubber pads with the option of radius corners, and also as circular or oval shaped pads or ‘discs’,  in a range of thicknesses.  Manufacturing these neoprene insertion rubber pads in-house means we can offer the options to supply them in a plain or self adhesive backed finish and even laminate multiple types of material together to create bespoke and unique variations known as composite materials.

Neoprene Insertion Rubber (or polychloroprene / CR) is a synthetic rubber, black in colour manufactured to the same specification as standard solid neoprene rubber but is produced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre referred to as the ‘insertion’, which gives this economy grade material, an even higher tensile strength and wear resistance, whilst still maintaining  good chemical stability and maintaining its natural flexibility over a wide range of temperatures.

Why use Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads?

Solid Neoprene Insertion Rubber is manufactured with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre, increasing the durability of the material from which the pads are cut.

This 'insertion' or reinforcement also prevents the material from stretching and increases its wear and tear resistance during conversion and when the pads are used for physically demanding applications.

Neoprene insertion rubber pads have a good resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone, weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts.  It has a wide working temperature range of-20°C to +110℃ and is a strong material with excellent abrasion properties.

    Grades of Insertion Rubber Available

NBR/SBR insertion (Nitrile) is manufactured using nitrile rubber and SBR compounds to create a material suitable for general purpose gasketing.  This commercial grade rubber offers resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils and many solvents making it suitable for use within a variety of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR insertion  rubber is another hybrid made up of 2 different compounds.  This particular grade of material  offers good resistance to weathering and Ozone deterioration and provides properties such as a high tensile strength and tear resistance.  Commercial grade EPDM rubber is typically used for applications such as pipe seals, weather strips and dust seals.

SBR Insertion rubber  (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set.  SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

    Benefits of Neoprene insertion rubber

    • Popular for internal / external applications
    • Increased durability and tensile strength compared to standard neoprene
    • Impermeable to water and dust
Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
    • excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing
    • Can be converted into a range of products

Advantages of Neoprene Insertion Rubber Pads

Pads cut from solid Neoprene insertion rubber are popular amongst a range of industries due the number of excellent properties they exhibit.  Neoprene insertion rubber pads are used where a more durable, strong, abrasive product is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water , salts, oil grease, UV, Ozone and gases is necessary.

These solid neoprene insertion rubber pads  maintain flexibility across a wide temperature range  and keep their chemical resistance properties even in very hot or cold environments.  Neoprene insertion rubber can be supplied in full rolls or  as cut pad and discs, where they are used as a type of gap filler, where they can create an air or moisture tight seal between surfaces, they can also be used as load distribution  underneath equipment and machinery and also to reduce the stress on materials or surfaces when fasteners are driven through them.

When used as composites, such as rubber and cork laminated, solid neoprene insertion rubber pads will also absorb vibration when used between objects and surfaces, where there is likely to be a lot of movement or repetitive impact.
