Neoprene rubber washers are all manufactured by ASG, using high-quality material and state of the art machinery. All our washers are made to order and are based on dimensions, samples or drawings to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample run if required.
Depending on the size and quantity of the washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut pressing machines or for very large or thick washers, we can programme our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times down.
Neoprene rubber material is stocked in a range of standard manufactured thicknesses starting at just 1mm, which can then be laminated to other materials or coated with a sale-adhesive backing prior to the gaskets being cut.
What is a Neoprene Washer?
Neoprene (or Polychloroprene) rubber is one of many materials we stock and convert into other products, including washers. A neoprene washer is a flat ring cut from a sheet or roll of material which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer/ seal or between a nut/bolt to spread the pressure when tightened.
Neoprene rubber washers are frequently utilised as the highly durable as the material holds a high tolerance to extreme weathers and conditions, with good resistance to oil, chemicals and ozone.
Neoprene rubber washers can be produced in a range of hardnesses from 40°- 70° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).

Washers can be used as a gap filler, dust/air/water seal, cushion or spacer. We manufacture washers using an extensive range of other materials including neoprene, silicone, solid rubber, sponge, plastics, polyethene, PVC, Polyester, cork, textiles and many more, using specialist presses and CNC machinery.
Why use Neoprene Washers?
Neoprene rubber washers have an array of desirable properties which means it can be used within countless applications as a spacer or seal. Neoprene rubber washers have good resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone/weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts.
It has a wide working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃ (depending on grade) and is a strong material with excellent abrasion properties. Neoprene rubber washers are a popular choice for outdoor applications and for sealing components within the automotive industry such as window/door seals, pumps, hydraulics and flanges.
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a multitude of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when they’re looking for neoprene rubber washers. Neoprene washers can be supplied in a number of grades and hardnesses, some of the main ones being:
(BS2752) British standard 2752 is a higher performing, stronger grade of neoprene rubber which offers a wider working temperature range of -30°C up to +120°C, greater resistance to ageing, weathering, acids, inorganic salts, oils and ozone as well as improved strength and anti-abrasion qualities in comparison to standard neoprene. This grade is available inshore hardnesses of 40°, 50°, 60°, 70° and 80°.
Flame retardant neoprene rubber washers can handle continuous temperatures of -30°C to +100°C, this material meets the test requirements of the flammability standard UL94-V0 and is in line with ISO 340. Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets are also tested in accordance with anti-static BS 490.
Food Quality (FDA) neoprene is white in colour and conforms to EC and FDA regulations for use within the food processing and pharmaceutical industries. Properties including resistance to fats, greases and vegetable oils, combined with higher tensile strength and wider working temperature range of -30°C up to +130°C make it a popular material to use.
Benefits of Neoprene Washers
- Popular for external & automotive sealing applications
- Variety of Grades available
- Impermeable to water and dust
- Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
- excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing
Advantages of Using Neoprene Washers
Neoprene rubber is often a popular choice for customers when they are purchasing washers, this is due to the number of excellent properties and the various grades available, making them suitable for various applications.
Neoprene rubber washers are generally used when a durable, strong, abrasive resistance material is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water, salts, oil grease, UV/Ozone and gases is necessary.
Neoprene rubber material is readily available in a range of thicknesses making the process of cutting washers a quicker process without the need for splitting whilst the strength and tear resistance of the material also allows us to easily and accurately cut gaskets using any of our presses or CNC machines.
