Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets

Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets

Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a wide network of material suppliers and manufacturers, enabling us to be able to offer a huge range of solid rubber gaskets one type of which are manufactured using solid nitrile insertion rubber. As with all solid rubber, nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1 mm from which gaskets can be cut.

Our nitrile insertion rubber gaskets are converted on-site using drawings or samples provided by our customers, from a simple picture frame gasket, to more complex shapes with cut-outs or fold performations. Whether it’s a one off sample or a multi-thousand batch run, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets everytime, which include a selection of presses, kiss cut machines and a CNC Oscillating knife.

Key Characteristics of Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber:

    • Shore Hardness: 60°
    • Reinforced cloth/cotton insertion layer to provide increased tensile strength over commercial rubber
    • Offers good abrasion resistance.
    • Working temperature: -30°C up to +70°C.
    • Good Compression
    • Good level of resistance against common industrial factors such as Oils, Fuels & Solvents

What are Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets?

Solid nitrile insertion rubber is a manufactured to the same specification as standard nitrile rubber giving the gaskets the same excellent properties, but with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’, used to prevent the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance. Nitrile Insertion rubber gaskets can be produced in the form of a strip or pad, but are generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.

Why Use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets?

Nitrile insertion rubber gaskets offer a countless number of excellent properties and are excellent for creating air, dust and water tight seals. They have an excellent tensile strength, anti- abrasion properties and resistance to  petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis.

The material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃, usually manufactured in a 65° shore hardness (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation ,the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).

    Different Grades of Insertion Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:

SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons.

Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.

Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.

Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Gaskets:

    • Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
    • Suitable for automotive industries
    • Water, mineral oil, petrol  resistance.
    • Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
    • Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
    • Excellent seal against gasses
    • Tear and stretch resistance

Advantages of Using Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Gaskets

Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber is mainly used for its resistance to ‘swell’ when exposed to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities and not breaking down, making it a popular choice for the production of automotive gaskets, abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, oil and fuel seals, insulating and isolation barriers.

Industries where these gaskets can be found include mining, quarrying, construction, automotive, oil, gas, defence, etc. Gaskets are generally cut from rolls or sheets produced at standard thicknesses, meaning they can usually be turned around within a fairly minimal lead time as there is no need for the material to be split to thickness. Depending on the size and quantity of gaskets required, ASG will select the best machine to quickly and accurately convert the gaskets in the most cost effect way.
