Nitrile Insertion Rubber

Nitrile Insertion Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a wide network of material suppliers and manufacturers and therefore enabling us to be able to offer a huge range of solid rubber materials one of which is a solid nitrile insertion rubber. As with all solid rubber, nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1mm, which we can supply in full, or convert into sheets and finished components such as gaskets, strips, pads and washers in a plain or self adhesive backed finish.

Solid Nitrile insertion rubber is usually manufactured in a 65°shore hardness (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation ,the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material) with all the excellent properties of a standard nitrile rubber, but with the addition of the stretch resistance reinforcement.

What are Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Rolls?

Solid nitrile insertion rubber is a manufactured to the same specification as standard nitrile rubber giving it the same excellent properties, but is enhanced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’, used to prevent the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance. Nitrile rubber rolls are manufactured in various lengths which depend upon the thickness of the material, but can be cut down to shorter lengths to order, or even into sheets.

Why use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Rolls?

Nitrile insertion rubber has many excellent properties and  are excellent for creating air, dust and water tight seals, with an excellent tensile strength, anti- abrasion properties and resistance to  petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis, the material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃. With the addition of the ‘insertion’ reinforcement, this material can also be used in applications where it will be prone to stretch such as conveyor belting and transfer chutes.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:

SBR Insertion rubber (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set. SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses held in stock. Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.

Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications. This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.

Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Gaskets:

    • Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
    • Suitable for automotive industries
    • Water, mineral oil, petrol resistance.
    • Can be formed into complex seals and extrusions
    • Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
    • Excellent seal against gasses
    • Tear and stretch resistance

Advantages of using Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Rolls

Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber rolls are mostly recognised by the materials resistance to ‘swell’ when under exposure to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities and not breaking down, making it a popular choice for the production of automotive belting, conveyor belts, farming machinery, abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, transfer and joining sleeves, oil and fuel seals, insulating strip and isolation barriers.

Industries where these products can be found include mining, quarrying, construction, automotive, oil, gas, defence, etc.Using rolls of solid nitrile insertion rubber are preferred when large quantities of washers, gaskets, pads or strips are being cut as they give a better yield, therefore making the parts more cost effective. The rolls are also suited for large surface coverage or for long lengths or belting to be produced where a minimum number of joins help produce a more efficient seal and surface.
