Nitrile Insertion Sheet

Nitrile Insertion Sheet

Solid Nitrile rubber is available  in a number of grades from Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd as we work with a wide network of material suppliers and manufacturers, one of which is a solid nitrile insertion rubber. As with all solid rubber, nitrile insertion rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide x 10 meters long, in thicknesses starting at just 1 mm, which we can supply in full, or cut down and supplied as sheets in lengths of 1 meter or 2 meters, supplied plain or with a self adhesive finish.

Nitrile insertion rubber is often taken as sheets as they give the customer and end users the flexibility to cover large surface areas and to be able to cut their own strips, gaskets, washers, or pads out as and when they are required.

Key Characteristics of Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber:

    • Shore Hardness: 60°
    • Reinforced cloth/cotton insertion layer to provide increased tensile strength over commercial rubber
    • Offers good abrasion resistance.
    • Working temperature: -30°C up to +70°C.
    • Good Compression
    • Good level of resistance against common industrial factors such as Oils, Fuels & Solvents

What are Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets?

Solid nitrile insertion rubber is a manufactured to the same specification as standard nitrile rubber giving it the same excellent properties, but is enhanced with a mesh/fabric reinforcement layer running through the centre which is referred to as the ‘insertion’, which prevents the material from stretching, therefore increasing its wear and tear resistance.

Nitrile insertion rubber sheets  can be supplied in different grades, and range of hardnesses  from  40°- 70° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates  the level of resistance to indentation ,the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).

Why use Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheets

Nitrile insertion rubber has many excellent properties and  are excellent for creating air, dust and water tight seals, with an excellent tensile strength, anti- abrasion properties and resistance to  petrol, mineral & vegetable oils and some acids and alkalis, the material also has some flame retardancy, and a working temperature range of -20°C to +70℃.

With the addition of the ‘insertion’ reinforcement, this material can also be used in applications where it will be prone to stretch such as conveyor belting and transfer chutes.  Nitrile rubber sheets and components manufactured from, are commonly used in automotive and aerospace sealing applications as the material has excellent resistance to oils, fuels and gases.

Benefits Of Using Nitrile Insertion Rubber:

    • Resistant to many chemicals and solvents
    • Suitable for automotive industries
    • Water, mineral oil, petrol  resistance.
    • Can be cut into complex seals
    • Abrasive resistant and excellent mechanical strength
    • Excellent seal against gasses
    • Tear and stretch resistance

    Different Grades of Insertion Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we have access to various grades of insertion rubber which include:

SBR Insertion rubber  (Styrene-butadiene rubber) is a cost effective, commercial grade, general purpose rubber with good abrasion resistance, tensile strength and low compression set.  SBR rubber is not suitable for applications involving chemicals, ozone, very strong acids, grease, fat oils and hydrocarbons

Neoprene insertion rubber (CR) Solid Neoprene is one of our most popular solid rubber materials, with various thicknesses  held in stock.  Neoprene is suitable for use where there is exposure to grease, oil, acids, ozone and even sea water.

Solid EPDM insertion rubber (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) another very popular solid rubber is great for use in outdoor applications.  This material is resistant to water, UV, ozone, weather, abrasion, alkalines, ketones and diluted acids.

Advantages of using Solid Nitrile Insertion Rubber Sheet

Solid Nitrile Insertion rubber sheets are generally recognised by the material's resistance to ‘swell’ when under exposure to oils and fuel, therefore holding its sealing capabilities and without breaking down, making it a popular choice for the production of automotive belting, conveyor belts, farming machinery, abrasive applications, flange gaskets on pipes and tanks, transfer and joining sleeves, oil and fuel seals, insulating strip and isolation barriers.

Industries where these products can be found include mining, quarrying, construction, automotive, oil, gas, defence, etc.  Using sheets of solid nitrile insertion rubber are preferred when lower quantities of parts are being cut as it reduces the amount of waste or excess material the customer is left with. These sheets are suited for large surface coverage or for long lengths or belting to be produced where a minimum number of joins help produce a more efficient seal and surface.
