Viton Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets are stockists of a diverse range of high quality rolls of material, some of which are designed for unique environments, industries and applications, one such material is Viton rubber, which is specially made to resist extreme temperatures and harsh chemicals.

Viton rubber is manufactured in roll form with thicknesses starting at 0.5mm, which ASG can supply in full or use to convert into various other products including sheets, washers, seals and gaskets, supplied with a plain or laminated with a self adhesive finish, which is carried out using our in-house laminating service. Viton rubber is often taken in roll or sheet form as they give the customers and end users the flexibility to cover larger surface areas or to be able to cut their own parts and components out as and when they are required.

Viton rubber rolls can be produced in different grades each with varying levels of and types of resistance, formulated for use in different applications and environments.

    What Are Viton Rubber Rolls?

As with most solid rubber materials, Viton rubber is manufactured in continuous lengths or rolls, in various lengths and thicknesses starting from just 0.5mm. Viton Rubber is a fluoroelastomer, a synthetic rubber which is fluorocarbon-based, developed for high temperature and chemical resistance. Viton rubber rolls can be taken in full, cut down to shorter widths or lengths and even laminated with one of our many self-adhesive tapes. Rolls are sometimes preferred by customers as they have the freedom to cut their own parts as and when they are required or for covering very large surfaces.

    Why Use Viton Rubber Rolls?

There are many excellent reasons why Viton rubber is often a go to material, usually selected for applications requiring a high performance product to meet the demands that cannot be achieved using other polymers such as EPDM or Neoprene.

Viton rubber rolls and components produced from these rolls can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -20° to 275°C and can maintain its physical and mechanical properties without breaking down even when used with water, acids, petrol, chemicals and oil due to it’s excellent resistance to them.

Viton rubber rolls are popular for the product of parts for use with the automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, and chemical industries - an FDA approved grade is also available for food and drink processing industries.

    Different Grades of Viton Rubber

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a network of material suppliers and manufacturers, meaning we can offer Viton rubber in additional grades, the most popular of which are detailed below:

Viton Rubber Type B has very similar properties and resistances to Type A, but has a greater fluorine content, this gives it better resistance to fluids and sulfur dioxide, better flexibility after heat exposure and a temperature range of -30°C up to +300°C. Type B is generally used in the most demanding applications and industries such as chemical and power generation.

Viton FDA grades are available in blue or white options. This grade is suitable for use for food or pharmaceutical production even at high temperatures. FDA grade Viton rubber is extremely resistant to animal fats, oils, acids, chemicals and petroleum.

    Benefits Of Viton Rubber Sheets

    • Environmental resistance (Ozone, weathering, UV)
    • High Chemical Resistance
    • Weather Resistant
    • Wide Temperature Range
    • Resistance to acid, oil and petroleum based fluids
    • Withstand Challenging Environments

The Advantages of Using Viton Rubber Rolls

There are many advantages to using Viton rubber rolls as the material is high performance, versatile and durable, able to withstand high temperatures, exposure to oil and chemical resistant (even at high temperatures) and will not degrade as easily as other elastomer over time when in contact with chemicals and fluids such as oil, acids, ozone or UV.

Other grades of Viton rubber rolls are available to order for use in a range of specific industries, details of which can be made available upon request in a range of standard thicknesses and can all be used to convert into a number of other products such as gaskets, strips, rolls, washers and many more.
