ASG are able to manufacture and supply washers using the highest quality materials sourced from suppliers across the world, giving us the ability to offer customers a wider selection of products, some of which being very specialist grades, formulated for use in very unique environments and applications, one such product being Viton sponge washers. Viton Sponge has been specially formulated to be capable of resisting extreme temperatures ranging from -25°C to +204°C, and a vast number of chemicals, liquids and acids.
Viton sponge is manufactured in roll form with thicknesses starting at 3.18mm, which ASG can convert into various other products including washers. In-house production ensures that high standards are maintained, in turn producing high quality washers consistently. Viton sponge washers are produced using drawings or dimensions provided by our customers, ensuring the final product is produced to their exact specification. Depending on the size and quantity of the washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut pressing machines or for very large or thick washers, we can programm our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times and costs down.
What are Viton Sponge Washers?
Washers are a flat ring (comprising of an Outer Diameter (OD), Internal Diameter (ID) and the thickness) cut from materials, such as Viton sponge, which is placed between two surfaces to fill gaps, creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between nuts, bolts and other fastenings to spread the pressure when tightened and ensure a secure fit. Viton sponge is one of many closed cell materials on offer from Advanced Seals & Gaskets, used where a high performance sponge is required for extreme environments. The material is manufactured in roll form, in thicknesses ranging from 3.18mm to 19.05mm, with a skin on both faces, designed to improve tear resistance during use and when the washers are being cut.

Why use Vitton Sponge Washers?
Viton sponge washers offer a number of highly desirable properties, often making them the first choice for sealing, gasketing and insulating application in harsh environments. Not only do viton sponge washers have a better tear resistance due to its skin finish, it has a wide working temperature range of -20°C to +210°C, and is resistant to chemicals, fuel, ozone, weather, lubricants, animal/vegetable oils and hydrocarbons. These properties allow these washers to be used for high temperature sealing such as within engine bays and other automotive applications, but also in applications requiring acoustic and vibration dampening in construction and resistance to oils, acids and other chemicals.

The Advatages of Using Viton Sponge Washers
Using Viton sponge washers brings a number of advantages to customers and end users as the material is high performance, versatile and durable, with increased strength from the skins, providing tear and puncture resistance. Being a closed cell sponge, even without the skins the rolls of material can be used to manufacture a range of sealing components including washers which will not allow the ingress of air or fluid into its cell structure and therefore keeping the application secure and protected. Viton sponge rolls are available in a range of standard pre-manufactured thicknesses, which can be used to convert into products such as washers, but they can also be laminated to greater thicknesses and fabricated to create very large or bespoke washers.
