Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are leading suppliers and converters of solid rubber, offering a range of materials including various types of natural rubber. 

As with most solid rubbers, natural rubber is manufactured in roll form at 1.4 meters wide, in 10-meter lengths and in a range of thicknesses starting at just 0.5mm thick. 

Natural rubber is held in stock in various thicknesses which can be supplied as entire rolls, cut down to sheets or converted into usable parts such as gaskets, washers, pads and strips.

What is Natural Rubber?

Natural rubber (NR) is manufactured using naturally occurring latex from the ‘rubber tree’. The higher the percentage of this natural rubber used in the compound, the higher the quality and mechanical strength of the material. 

Natural rubber features high tensile strength and good abrasion resistance, which can be purchased as pre-cut parts or as a full roll of material, ideal for the production of parts used where a strong robust material resistance is required including wear strips, gaskets and chute liners.

    Why use Natural Rubber?

    Natural rubber offers excellent tensile, elongation, tear resistance, and electrical insulation properties with a wide operating temperature range of -30°C up to +70°CNatural rubber exhibits excellent resistance to water and maintains a good level of flexibility even at low temperatures that are better in comparison to many synthetic rubbers. 

    Natural rubber is moderately resistant to high temperatures, light and ozone damage, however still has a list of applications for which it can be used such as the production of belts, hoses, vibration isolators, electrical components, bumpers, seals and gaskets.

    Self-Adhesive Acoustic Foam Gaskets

    Class O Acoustic Foam Gaskets can be manufactured with a plain or self-adhesive backing to allow for easy installation and to hold the gasket in place, ensuring it remains stable even if the application moves.

    Clients can choose from a selection of adhesives including acrylic, scrim and tissue with low, medium or high tack options, depending upon the individual requirements.    Acoustic foam gaskets can also be cut from foam laminated to a range of our other materials using spray adhesives.

    Why use Acoustic foam gaskets?

    There are various ways in which our customers utilize acoustic foam gaskets, these include sound absorption. Due to its excellent sound dampening properties, acoustic foam gaskets are often used for fittings within marine applications, recording studios, acoustic/compressor or generator enclosures, etc.

    Many industries also utilize acoustic foam gaskets for insulation, vibration control and cushioning due to the materials exceptional fire resistance properties (Surface Spread of Flame Class 1 BS 476 part 7 and Building Regulations 1991 (fire safety) Class 0 BS 476 part 6&7).

    These include heating & ventilation, construction, automotive, and electrical equipment and appliance manufacturing.

    Different Types of Natural Rubber

    Shore Hardness:  can be produced in a range of hardnesses  from  40°- 60° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates  the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material) 

    BS1154 Natural rubber - this high-grade natural features high tensile strength and good abrasion resistance, it is available in black or white allowing for the material to be utilised within the food and drink production and packaging industries.

    Tan Shot Blast rubber - this is a superior, long-life material, offering a high abrasion resistance, perfect for very heavy wear and tear applications such as scraper blades and chute lining.

    Abrasion Resistant Natural Rubber - available in black, red or white. A high-quality grade natural rubber, specifically formulated and manufactured to offer resistance to abrasion and wear, good tensile strength, high elasticity and can operate as an effective seal under a low compression set.
