Plastic Strip

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a number of manufacturers and suppliers, therefore able to offer strips cut from an array of non-metallic materials including plastics. Our range of plastic strips is available in a range of material types and grades, each with its own unique properties to meet particular applications and levels of demand. Plastic strips are all made to order, manufactured using state of the art machinery which include band saws, strippers, presses and CNC machines selected depending upon the size and quantity required – for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end-user. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips.

What are Plastic Strips?

Plastics are often used to manufacture strips as they’re lightweight and one of the preferred alternatives to metal due to their durability and resistance to corrosion, they also come in different grades with a range of qualities for example impact strength, heat and chemical resistance, etc. Strips are pieces of material often cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation and provide abrasion resistance.

Why use Plastic Strips?

Plastic strips are available in a variety of grades and have a number of properties and can be used as a solution in a number of applications including sealing against fuel, oil and water and within machinery where there is exposure to corrosive fluids. Plastic strips are lightweight, heat and impact resistant and offer electrical insulation. Industries that utilise plastics strips include packaging, petrochemical, oil & gas and petrochemical processing.

Types of Plastic

Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a multitude of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when looking for plastic strips – our most popular plastic strip types include:

  • PTFE
  • Polycarbonate
  • Polypropylene
  • HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene)
  • PVC
  • ABS
  • Polyester
  • Acetal
  • Acrylic
  • Nylatron

Benefits of Using Plastic Strips

Using plastic strips offers a whole host of benefits, not only are they cheaper and lighter in weight in comparison to metal and some sponge options, but also offer more resistance to wear, abrasion and corrosion (will not rust unlike metal gaskets). Despite being a fairly rigid material, plastic strips can still be compressed to create a tight seal and as well as being great for insulation applications as they do not conduct heat or electricity.
