Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals

As ASG  work with worldwide material suppliers we are able to offer silicone seals in various sponge or solid material types,  one of which includes our Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals.

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber is not only manufactured as continuous rolls of material, but can also be moulded and extruded into bespoke profiles allowing us to supply Platinum Cured Silicone Rubbers Seals taking the form of gaskets, washers, O-rings, mouldings and extrusions, all of which are designed for the purpose of preventing leaks or the ingress of air, fluids and gas.

All our seals are made to order and are produced using samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application.  As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery meaning we can offer high or low quantities at the most competitive price.

What are Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals?

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seal is a term which often describes a cut gasket, strip, washer, moulded profiles, pipes tubes or edge trims which serve the purpose of filling a gap, usually that is air or water tight whilst also preventing the intrusion of dust and debris.

Manufacturing seals to order means we can offer bespoke products perfectly suited to fit our customer's applications.   Unlike many traditional Peroxide cured materials and rubber products, during the formulation of Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals, peroxides aren't used as part of the catalysing process.  When using peroxides, traces can often remain in the raw material causing contamination and so silicone manufactured using Platinum Curing and the seals produced from this material are a more popular choice in industries including medical, food, drink or dairy applications as it is considered a cleaner/purer product.

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals are also translucent in colour and appearance - again perfect for the food and drink industries where visibility is crucial, it is also non-toxic and non-yellowing.

Why use Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals?

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals are safe and versatile, popular for use in the food, drinks and pharmaceutical industries.  The rolls of material itself are easy to convert into a range of products including seals and where parts can not be pressed or cut from a flat sheet, we can also offer moulded or extruded parts to suit various applications.

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals can be used with applications where there is exposure to extreme temperatures offering an operating temperature range of -40°C to +200°C, radiation, corona, moisture and steam.

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber is peroxide free, non toxic and non yellowing.  It’s an extremely flexible and durable material offering good weathering, UV and Ozone resistance.  Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals are usually  air or liquid tight which can also be used to reduce friction between moving parts.

    Different Grades

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd have a network of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice, our most popular grades of silicone rubber include:

    • High Temperature Silicone - FDA approved and suitable for working conditions up to 300°C.
    • FDA Approved Silicone - all general purpose silicone are certified for use within food, drink &  pharmaceutical applications.
    • Metal Detectable Silicone - used to detect metal fragments.
    • Fluorosilicone - this material offers the same mechanical properties as standard silicone, but with an improved fuel and mineral oil resistance.
    • Conductive Silicone is a carbon filled silicone which conducts a low electrical amperage.
    • Flame retardant offers a more superior flame retardance, meeting  the following standard for railways BS6853 Cat1A and French Norm NFF 16-101 (now superseded by TS EN 45545-2).

Benefits of Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber

    • Peroxide Free
    • Non-Toxic
    • Non-Yellowing & excellent translucency so more visibility
    • Durability with a high tear strength
    • Lightweight
    • Easy to cut
    • Highly hydrophobic

Advantages of Using Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals are used for a number of reasons and are especially popular within the food, beverage and medical industries due it being peroxide free, non-toxic and offering excellent purity.

Platinum Cured Silicone Rubber Seals are translucent in colour and non-yellowing which makes it perfect for use in sensitive environments as it will not contaminate any food, medicines or liquid it comes into contact with.   Platinum-cured silicones other properties include chemical inertness, higher levels of tensile strength, elongation, and tear strength.

These seals have an operating temperature range of -40°C to +200°C,  and can be used in applications where a resistance to radiation, corona, ozone exposure, moisture, and/or steam is desired.   The curing process for producing Platinum Cured Silicone materials is not only peroxide free, but also emits the use of talc - a mineral which has been known to cause health issues.

Platinum Cured Silicone can be taken in full rolls or sheets of materia where customers can cut their own sealsl or alternatively supplied as finished moulded or extruded parts.
