Reconstituted foam

chip Foam: Polyurethane sheets come in various colors and grades at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd. Reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets, also known as 'recon,' 'crumb,' or 'chip' foam, display a multi-colored appearance and a fuzzy texture. These sheets are manufactured from large master blocks or 'buns,' typically over 2 meters by 1.5 meters in size and over 1 meter in height. These master blocks are readily available for carving and splitting into reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets.

Our onsite conversion machinery allows us to cut recon foam down to a thickness of just 2mm. These foam sheets can be supplied as-is or used for further conversion into finished products like gaskets, strips, washers, or pads. We utilize various machines, including presses, kiss cut machines, and band saws, to customize these sheets. They can be provided in a plain finish, coated with foils or self-adhesives, or laminated with other materials to create composites, ensuring they meet specific application requirements.

Reconstituted foam is often considered an environmentally friendly option because it utilizes recycled foam scraps. This helps reduce waste and promotes sustainability by giving a new life to foam remnants that might otherwise be discarded.

The use of recycled foam in reconstituted foam production can make it a more cost-effective option compared to some virgin foam materials. This can be particularly appealing for budget-conscious projects.

Reconstituted foam is versatile and can be used for a variety of applications, including seating cushions, mattresses, packaging, and soundproofing. It can be manufactured in different densities and thicknesses to suit specific needs.

Reconstituted foam can offer comfort and support similar to traditional foam materials. It is often used in the production of mattresses, cushions, and furniture where a balance of comfort and durability is important.

The bonding process used in reconstituted foam production enhances its durability and resilience. This makes it suitable for applications where the material may undergo repeated compression and stress, such as in seating or mattresses.

What Are Reconstituted Foam Sheets?

Chip foam, or reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets, are crafted from recycled materials, a mixture of polyurethane foam off-cuts and trimmings. This sustainable process repurposes waste materials that would otherwise be discarded. The discarded foam mixture undergoes shredding to form small pieces, which are then compressed and bonded into multi-colored foam blocks. These blocks can be cut into reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets or further processed into finished products.

Our advanced conversion and splitting machinery enables the production of chip foam sheets, also known as reconstituted polyurethane foam sheets, starting at a thickness of just 2mm, with lengths of 2 meters or 1 meter. Additionally, we offer options for lamination with other materials and coatings featuring various adhesives and foils. This customization ensures that the material precisely suits your needs and applications.

Why Use Reconstituted Foam Sheets?

Numerous compelling reasons drive the utilization of Reconstituted Polyurethane foam. It's an economical, compact, and highly resilient material with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly due to its recycled composition. Recon foam sheets find versatile applications, especially in scenarios involving repeated use and impact. Examples include seat cushions in pub benches, public transport, gym mat production, and their utility in packaging or noise reduction tasks.

The availability of Reconstituted foam sheets in different weights, typically spanning from 4lb to 14lb, caters to various usage scenarios. These sheets are often preferred for situations where smaller products or lower quantities are being manufactured, contributing to reduced waste and cost efficiency.

Advantages Of Using Reconstituted Foam Sheets

Reconstituted foam sheets  and their components boast numerous excellent qualities, making them highly desirable to our discerning clientele. These sheets offer cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness as the raw material is crafted from recycled off-cuts and leftover pieces from other converted products. Recon foam sheets play a pivotal role in the production of parts designed for cushioning, sound and vibration control across diverse industries. These applications span sectors such as automotive, audio, sports and leisure, aerospace, marine, rail, and domestic manufacturing.

Despite Reconstituted polyurethane's production method that combines various types of PU foams, it still provides the flexibility of being made in different weights or densities. This adaptability is achieved by adjusting the compression of the foam chips during production. Leveraging our state-of-the-art equipment and master buns of material, we expertly manufacture sheets in various sizes and thicknesses. In addition, we craft other reconstituted foam products including gaskets, pads, seals, and strips. These items are readily available coated with a choice of foils and self-adhesives.
