Conductive Fabric Strip

Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets Limited, we supply a vast range of materials that can be converted in-house to meet our customers' specific requirements. Among the products we offer is RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric Strips. The term RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric refers to a lightweight material such as nylon that is combined with conductive metals. By combining these characteristics, we can produce a product that offers the flexibility and breathability of a fabric, as well as the electrical properties of metal. In addition, RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric can be manufactured plain or with self-adhesive backings on one or both sides.

Whether we manufacture as a one-off or in large quantities, we work closely with our customers throughout the manufacturing process to provide a completely bespoke service. Utilizing state-of-the-art machinery such as band saws, strippers, log cutters or even presses, we produce RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric strips in a manner that ensures high quality while minimizing lead times.

RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric is available from us in many forms including:

What is RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric Strips?

The term RFI/EMI/EMC conductive fabric refers to a polyester or nylon fabric that is nickel/copper or silver-plated to create a highly conductive material.

An RFI/EMI/EMC material is designed to prevent electronic devices from being disturbed by RFI (radio frequency interference) and EMI (electromagnetic interference) as well as to insulate devices in order to minimize interference.

Advanced Seals and Gaskets Ltd offer RFI/EMI/EMC materials in pre-cut parts or as complete rolls or sheets, allowing customers to cut their own products as and when needed.

Why use RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric Strips?

RFI/EMI/EMC conductive fabric strips are pieces of material cut to a specific length and supplied to our customers for use as and when required. RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive fabrics are frequently used by our customers to fill gaps or create seals that dissipate static energy and mitigate unwanted electrical interference.

All electronic devices generate electromagnetic or radio frequency interference, these interferences can cause disturbances within electronic devices, which may affect the circuit's performance. Aside from providing thermal regulation, conductive fabric strips also offer antibacterial, and hypoallergenic properties.

    RFI/EMI/EMC Shielding Products Available

Our relationships with our various suppliers and manufacturers ensure we can offer a wide selection of products at an affordable price while keeping lead times to a minimum. RFI/EMI/EMC shielding products available from us include:

    • Conductive Fabric:  A polyester or nylon fabric that can be nickel/copper or silver-plated to create a highly conductive material.  This fabric is wrapped around a sponge and formed into usable profiles such as gaskets.
    • Conductive Silicone: Products produced using a silicone or fluorosilicone material that has been impregnated with electrically conductive particles prior to being cured.  Conductive Silicone gaskets not only provide EMI/RFI shielding but will also act as seals against dust and water.
    • Gap Pads: Also known as filler pads. They are made from a silicone polymer combined with a thermal substance such as ceramic and then cured.  Gap pad gaskets are used to fill uneven surfaces and air gaps which provide a thermal interface between heat sinks and electrical devices.
    • Knitted Mesh: This material is created by knitting or weaving wires such as aluminium, steel, Monel or tin-plated copper-clad steel in sections or specifically shaped gaskets.  This mesh can be used on its own or as a sleeve wrapped over a sponge such as neoprene, silicone or EPDM.
    • Oriented Wire: Manufactured using silicone sponge and solid variants, combined with wires embedded vertically into the polymer.  Oriented wire gaskets provide a high level of oil-resistant shielding as well as environmental protection.
    • Sil-Pad: Sil-Pad gaskets perform in a similar way to gap-pads but are more flexible and comfortable. The material is constructed to enhance performance and contains a variety of materials including fibreglass, silicone rubber, polyamide/polyester films and fillers.
    • T-flex: T-flex is a soft gap-filling interface pad composed of a silicone elastomer, boron nitride filler and reinforced with fibreglass. Tflex is a cost-effective gap filler thermal interface material with excellent thermal performance, it is used in applications such as cooling components, storage drives, heat pipes, and engine control units.
    • Tgon: This is manufactured in various grades and thicknesses using synthetic graphite.  Tgon gaskets are generally used for thermal transfer and conductivity as opposed to electrical isolation.
    • Tguard:  Produced using a glass fibre supported silicone elastomer with ceramic oxide filler, Tguard creates a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.

Benefits of using RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric Strips?

    • Moisture and dust protection
    • Excellent surface conductivity, shielding effectiveness and corrosion resistance
    • High temperature resistance
    • Available in various woven and non-woven polyester or nylon substrate configurations
    • Flexible
    • Anti-allergy and Anti-Bacterial properties

Advantages of using RFI/EMI/EMC Conductive Fabric Strips

RFI/EMI/EMC conductive fabric strips are used in a wide range of applications due to their high temperature resistance, excellent surface conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Conductive fabric strips prevent electromagnetic waves both internal and external, from interfering with devices, allowing them to operate smoothly even in the presence of other devices. Common uses include wearable medical devices, notebook computers, plasma display panels, printers, as well as global positioning systems (GPS).
