Specialist Material Strip
Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd specialise in the conversion and supply of a range of non-metallic strip products, offering a massive choice of materials from the popular sponge, rubber and plastics, right through to specialist material strips for use within many industries. Specialist material strips are all made to order, manufactured using one of our many machines including band saws, strippers, log cutters and even presses depending upon the size and quantity required – for very small strips in high volume runs, a kiss-cut option may also be available for faster production and time efficiency for the end-user. In-house production allows us to closely oversee the whole production process to ensure that we consistently produce high quality, competitively priced strips. We hold stocks of many specialist materials in roll, sheet or block form, ensuring strips can be produced within a minimum timeframe and manufactured with a range of finishes including foils, self-adhesives or laminated with other materials.
What are Specialist Material Strips?
Strips are pieces of material often cut to a specific width and length as requested by our customers, in some cases available as continuous rolls/coils to be cut as when needed by the end-user, often used in a similar way to a gasket placed between two surfaces to create a seal, provide cushioning or insulation. The material from which these strips are cut will be selected based on the application, mechanical characteristics and resistance properties required.
Other materials from which we can produce strips include a number of specialist types, such as:
Leather is a material historically used as a sealing or gasket material. It is flexible, resilient and can withstand high levels of manipulation making it suitable for hydraulic gaskets, pipeline and air pump seals, etc. When prepared correctly, leather can be resistant to water, oil, salts, grease and detergents.
Post Office Sponge (orange open cell sponge) strips are resistant to ozone, oils, acids and alkaline. This open cell sponge is designed to be absorbent and often used in packaging, labelling or other wet applications.
Abrasion Resistant Polyurethane strips are manufactured from one of the toughest and wear/abrasion-resistant materials on offer. This material has excellent electrical insulation properties, and resistance to high impact, weather, oil and petrol.
Benefits of Using Specialist Materials Strips
Advanced Seals and Gaskets Ltd offer a massive range of material choice from which we can convert into strips, from popular foams and sponges to more odd-ball and specialist materials. Specialist materials can be used for a range of applications with varying levels of strength and resistance requirements. Whether it’s a simple gasket strip to create an air-tight seal between pipes through to insolation strips within heavy machinery exposed to chemicals, vibration, extreme heat and high impact – we have a material to suit. If you are unable to find the material you require or can’t decide which is best for you – give our friendly sales team a call who will be able to discuss your application needs further.
