Polyethylene Foam

Polyethylene Foam Washers

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd are proud to offer an excellent in-house cutting and conversion service and to be one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of polyethylene foam washers. Polyethylene foam washers are all made to order and are produced using dimensions, samples or drawings provided by our customer to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application – even offering a small sample run if required. Depending on the size and quantity of the washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut pressing machines or for very large or thick washers, we can programme our CNC (oscillating knife)  to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times down. Polyethylene foam is stocked in a range of grades, colours and densities, which can be laminated to other materials or coated with a sale-adhesive backing prior to the washers being cut.

What are Polyethylene Foam Washers?

Polyethylene foams are one of many materials we stock and convert into other products, including washers. Washers are a flat ring (comprising of an Outer Diameter (OD), Internal Diameter (ID) and the thickness) cut from a sheet or roll of material, which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between a nut/bolt to spread the pressure when tightened. Polyethylene foam washers are manufactured from high quality, lightweight closed-cell material, great for using as a washer as it is flexible, has a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours.

Why use Polyethylene Foam Washers?

Polyethylene foam washers possess a number of desirable properties making them a popular choice across many industries. Its closed-cell structure creates an air, dust and watertight seal, provides a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.  Polyethylene foam washers come in a range of grades and densities offering a range of properties for different applications.  Polyethylene foam washers have a low compression set, resistance to water, oils, chemicals and weather as well as being excellent thermal insulation material. Being a closed-cell material, it has good tear resistance and doesn’t support mold or fungus growth. Different variants of polyethylene include FDA grades for use with food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications, Flame Retardant and anti-static.

Grades

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene grades, densities and colours, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene materials:

  • Alveo
  • Anti-static
  • Ethafoam
  • Eva foam
  • Flame retardant
  • Chemically cross-linked
  • Plastazote
  • Stratocell

Benefits of Polyethylene Foam Washers

Using polyethylene foam gaskets offers a huge number of benefits, it’s a non-toxic, high quality, lightweight material, which has good water, ozone, UV, weathering, grease and chemical resistance. Polyethylene has a wide operating temperature range, with higher temperature and flame retardant variants also available. Due to the number of grades on offer, polyethylene foam gaskets can be found in most applications where weather-resistant, acoustic and thermal insulation and tight sealing is required.
