Polyethylene Foam Seals

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd work with a network of manufacturers and suppliers, therefore able to offer seals produced using an array of non-metallic materials including polyethylene. We produce some of the highest quality plastic seals in the UK, taking the forms of gaskets, washers, O-rings and extrusions, which are all designed for the purpose of preventing leaks or the ingress of air, fluids and gas. All our seals are made to order and are based on samples or drawings provided by customers to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application – with sample runs available for testing.  As each form of seal needs to be manufactured using a different process, ASG has invested heavily in various machinery meaning we can produce both high and low volumes.

What are Polyethylene Foam Seals

Seals are used to join surfaces together, acting as a separator or a barrier to prevent liquids, particles or gases from escaping or penetrating the application. ‘Seal’ is a generic term for products often taking the form of cut gaskets, strips, washers, extruded or moulded profiles and edge trims.  Polyethylene foam seals are manufactured from high quality, lightweight closed-cell material, ideal for sealing applications as it is flexible, has a number of resistances and insulation properties as well as being available in a variety of grades, densities, colours.

Why use Polyethylene Foam Seals?

Polyethylene foam seals possess a number of desirable properties making them a popular choice across many industries. Its closed-cell structure creates an air, dust and watertight seal, provides a solution to unwanted rattles, noise, vibrations and can also be used to cushion between moving parts to reduce friction and damage to components and equipment.  Polyethylene foam seals come in a range of grades and densities offering a range of properties for different applications. Polyethylene foam seals have a low compression set, resistance to water, oils, chemicals and weather as well as being excellent thermal insulation material. Being a closed-cell material, it has good tear resistance and doesn’t support mold or fungus growth. Different variants of polyethylene include FDA grades for use with food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications, Flame Retardant and anti-static.

Different Grades

Having a network of manufacturers and suppliers, allows ASG to offer a full range of polyethylene grades, densities and colours, many of which are readily available from stock for a quick turnaround. Below is just a selection of some of our popular polyethylene materials:

  • Alveo
  • Anti-static
  • Ethafoam
  • Eva foam
  • Flame retardant
  • Chemically cross-linked
  • Plastazote
  • Stratocell

Benefits of Polyethylene Foam Seals

Using polyethylene foam seals offers a huge number of benefits, it’s a non-toxic, high quality, lightweight material, which has good water, ozone, UV, weathering, grease and chemical resistance. Polyethylene has a wide operating temperature range, with higher temperature and flame retardant variants also available. Due to the number of grades on offer, polyethylene foam seals can be found in most applications where weather-resistant, acoustic and thermal insulation and tight sealing is required.
